Ricoh GR Accessories: Which Lenses, Batteries and Cases Fit GR IV and GR IIIx
Ricoh makes a small set of official accessories for the GR, and the most common mistake is buying one for the wrong model. The GR IV family (GR IV, GR IV HDF and GR IV Monochrome) and the GR IIIx family use different conversion lenses, adapters and batteries, even though the cameras look alike. This guide lists what fits which camera, based on Ricoh's official compatibility information, and adds what owners in Japan, where we are based, tend to buy first (October 2026).

What Japanese owners add first
- A case or pouch. The GR's lens retracts into the body, and owners on Kakaku.com warn that a loose pocket can let dust reach the sensor. Ricoh does not claim dust or water resistance, so a soft case is cheap insurance.
- A spare battery. Owners recommend a spare or a USB-C power bank for a full day out.
- A better strap. Owners describe the included hand strap as basic, and many swap it on day one.
- A 49mm filter adapter. Some owners fit a lens adapter so they can add a protective or diffusion filter; Ricoh's own are the GA-3 (GR IV) and GA-2 (GR IIIx) below.
For the GR IV: GW-4 wide conversion lens and GA-3 adapter
The GW-4 is a 0.75x wide conversion lens that turns the GR IV's 28mm view into a 21mm-equivalent view, for architecture, interiors and big landscapes: the kind of sweeping shot a GR normally cannot take. It mounts through the GA-3 lens adapter, which you need to buy separately; the GA-3 also lets you use 49mm filters on the GR IV. Ricoh notes that the GW-4 also works on the older GR III with the GA-1 adapter, but not on the GR IIIx, and the GA-1 does not fit the GR IV.
Prices and stock on Amazon change often. Look for listings shipped and sold by Amazon.com; some listings are imports or third-party copies of the adapters.
For the GR IIIx: GT-2 tele conversion lens and GA-2 adapter
The GT-2 is a 1.88x tele conversion lens that turns the GR IIIx's 40mm view into a 75mm-equivalent portrait view, with a flatter, more flattering look for faces. It mounts through the GA-2 adapter, made for the GR IIIx, which also takes 49mm filters. It is not compatible with the 28mm GR IV.
Spare batteries: DB-120 vs DB-110
Ricoh rates the GR IV at about 250 shots and the GR IIIx at about 200 per charge (CIPA), so most owners carry a spare. The GR IV family uses the DB-120; the GR IIIx and GR III use the DB-110. Ricoh's FAQ says the DB-110 cannot be used in the GR IV, so batteries from an older GR do not carry over. The coming GR IVx also uses the DB-120. When we checked, we found only third-party DB-120 batteries on Amazon.com, so the genuine one is easier to get from Ricoh's store.
Case: GC-12 leather soft case
Ricoh's GC-12 is a leather soft case that slips over the camera for pocket and bag carry. Its listing names the GR III and GR IIIx as compatible; we did not find GR IV compatibility in Ricoh's information, so check before buying it for a GR IV.
Flash and viewfinder
The GF-2 is a tiny hot-shoe flash designed for the GR IV, with full support for its flash modes; Ricoh's Japanese FAQ says firmware updates add a GF-2 mode to the GR III and GR IIIx. It cannot be used together with the GW-4 lens. On Amazon.com we found it only from other sellers. No GR has a built-in viewfinder; Ricoh offers optional external optical viewfinders, so check the frame lines match your camera's 28mm or 40mm view.
Prices are going up in Japan
Ricoh announced on October 15, 2026 that it will raise the suggested retail prices of several GR accessories in Japan from November 2, 2026, citing higher material, manufacturing and logistics costs. It follows a 6 to 11% increase on the GR cameras themselves in July.
| Accessory | Before (Japan) | From Nov 2, 2026 |
|---|---|---|
| GW-4 wide conversion lens | ¥32,000 | ¥37,000 |
| GT-2 tele conversion lens | ¥34,000 | ¥42,000 |
| GC-12 soft case | ¥9,000 | ¥11,000 |
| GC-11 soft case | ¥6,200 | ¥8,000 |
| GS-4 finger strap | ¥4,600 | ¥5,600 |
These are Ricoh's suggested retail prices in Japan, from its price revision notice. The notice covers Japan only. For the GR's 30th anniversary, Ricoh is also making special versions of the metal hot shoe cover and finger strap with anniversary engraving, sold separately in limited numbers only through its own Japanese store and GR SPACE TOKYO.
